An appointment with... Joanne Palmaro

French-Italian actress Joanne Palmaro shares her latest beauty favorites, as well as her everyday pleasures.

Who are you?

I'm Joanne, a Franco-Italian actress. I live between Paris and Italy and became an actress because I've been acting since I was a little girl. My day-to-day life is full of castings, appointments, shootings... At the moment, I'm writing and preparing a series and a book in Italy. Of course, I'm passionate about cinema (all the Fellini, Visconti...) but also about art. And my ultimate passion is food!

The first thing you do when you wake up?

I cleanse my face with very cold water, patting with my palms to boost circulation. It's one of my grandfather's techniques, so it's kind of my Proust's madeleine!

What are your favorite everyday products?

Two to three times a week, I use the Daily Microfoliant by Dermalogica, a powder that I put in the palm of my hand and mix with water to create a scrub: it exfoliates and removes all the little imperfections… Then I use a vitamin C combo! The Biolumin-C Eye Serum, Dermalogica, since I often have dark circles and look a little tired. Then I apply the Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream by Kat Burki,, which is very nourishing and always gives me that glowing, radiant look. And if I want my skin to look even more radiant, I use the Resurfacing Mask by Tata Harper with pink clay once a week. It’s really effective at giving me that peach complexion.

What about your hair?

My secret is 100 strokes of the hairbrush every night! I love volume. Then I use Bain Volumateur aux Fleurs Leonor Greyl as a shampoo, and the same brand's Quintessence Mask: I wrap my hair in a warm towel and rinse after about twenty minutes. But I can also leave it on overnight and only wash my hair in the morning.

What makes you feel good about yourself?

What makes me beautiful is being happy. And to be happy... I have to eat! A plate of pasta gives me the glow :-) Then, seeing people I love, going for a walk, drinking a coffee, writing, looking at the sea... and lots of other little things!
