Concealer: our tips for choosing the right concealer and applying it like a pro

Too light and you've got the corpse effect, too thick and the result over the course of the day just makes you want to run off and remove your make-up. Here are our tips for perfect application and the keys to choosing the rightdark circle remover that will never leave your bathroom or handbag!

Concealer, a must-have in every make-up kit

Because it can camouflage the vestiges of a too-short night, a small pimple or even localized redness, thedark circle remover is undoubtedly THE product to be found in every make-up kit. In fact, if there were only one product to have (even before foundation, yes yes!), this would be it. The reason? Precisely because it's multi-functional, since it can actually be applied to all areas of the face, in dabs. It gives an immediate "bonne-mine" effect to all skin tones, without exception.

But beware: depending on its texture, the shade chosen and the way it's applied, if you choose the wrong anti-dark circle product, it can also have the opposite effect, looking cruelly unnatural! Finally, it's important to bear in mind that an anti-dark circle product has its limits: when dark circles are strongly marked - unfortunately, the reason for this is mainly genetic - you may need to consider investing in a good eye contour (caffeine-based, for example, to stimulate blood circulation). If imperfections or blemishes are also very pronounced, it's best to precede them with a slightly green concealerto neutralize the red, before using the concealer.

How to choose the right dark circle remover?

The best concealer There's no such thing as a universal concealer, because not everyone has the same skin, the same criteria, the same desire for coverage... Let's start with texture: generally speaking dark circles are best suited to skins that tend to shine easily and are looking for high coverage. But like all rules, there are exceptions... we'll tell you more right after ;-)

How to apply dark circle remover?

Apply dark circle concealer directly to shadow areas only. Ideally, start at the inner corner of the eye, but bear in mind that no two people have the same shadows. If you have under-eye bagsIf you have bags under the eyes, the dark circles will be less close to your eyes, but more towards the bottom of the circle, in a semicircle. This is where the product should be applied.

Work the material with your fingers or a small flat brush. Alternate tapping and sweeping movements.

To camouflage larger areas such as marked redness, opt for a wide, flat brush or again with your finger.

Our tips

To camouflage small pimples, the unstoppable trick is to use a tiny brush, like a lip or liner brush: add material directly to the skin, tap with the brush and finish with your fingertips. You can also lightly powder to set the result.

For a "lift" effect in the eye area, use a small brush and add dark circle concealer to the outer corner of the eye.

Mistakes not to make with concealer

To maintain a natural effect, avoid applying your concealer to areas that are already light.
Dark circle concealer that fades into the features? If you're sure you've got the right concealer, it may be that the eye cream you applied beforehand is too rich. Remove the excess with a tissue or mattifying paper.
When the finish is too thick, it's because there's too much material. It's better to add material gradually, work it in, then add more if necessary, and so on.
Use a dark circle remover brightener on imperfections: more and more anti-dark circle products feature light-reflecting pigments that are great on dark circles and shadows... but less so on blemishes, as they highlight them. So make sure you've got the right one ;-)

Using a concealer that's too light has the opposite effect: it makes you look bad and, once again, highlights the imperfections you've tried to conceal. When in doubt, use the darkest shade.
