Why use a facial scrub?

Exfoliating your face regularly is THE secret to clear, healthy skin, whatever your skin type. In fact, exfoliating your face removes dead skin cells and, at the same time, tightens pores and refines skin texture. Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, normal skin or combination skin, it's important to remove dead cells to ensure optimal cell renewal and better penetration (and therefore optimal efficacy!) of your face care products. Especially if you have a dull complexionirregular skin texture, pigmentation spots or scars linked to old imperfections, don't underestimate facial exfoliants! They have a real resurfacing action and visible effectiveness from the very first use.

What type of of facial face to use?

Whatever your skin type, we recommend chemical exfoliants (with fruit acids - AHA and BHA) or enzymatic exfoliants. The advantage of chemical and enzymatic exfoliants? They're grain-free, so they're gentler and therefore more respectful of the skin barrier. If you have sensitive skin, opt for enzymatic exfoliants or chemical exfoliants based on lactic acid or salicylic acid. Glycolic acid is reserved for normal, combination to oily skin with no particular sensitivities. Nevertheless, if you're a fan of mechanical grain scrubs, opt for a gentle scrub (e.g. with jojoba beads) and apply your facial scrub with gentle, circular movements. However, if you have blemish-prone skin, we advise against grainy scrubs, which open up pimple heads and spread the bacteria responsible for acne. Always take care to choose a facial scrub suited to your needs and skin type, and never over-exfoliate your skin, as this can lead to sensitization. It's like everything else: it's good, but in moderation! The good news? Facial exfoliants come in a variety of forms: exfoliating lotion, peeling mask, exfoliating powder... So it's easy to make exfoliation part of your beauty routine, whatever your skin type!

How often should I use a facial scrub?

Enzymatic scrubs, like the Oh My Cream Skincare Exfoliating Powdercan be used every 2 or 3 days. The enzymes gently nibble away at intercellular bonds: this is the gentlest exfoliation method, suitable for sensitive and reactive skin. Fruit acid exfoliants, such as the Radiance Resurfacing Mask Tata Harpergenerally have a more powerful, targeted action and should be used once a week. And, if you want to take things to the next level, you can also opt for a professional in-booth peel (which we are authorized to perform in our boutiques), to be done every month.
