The inspiring interview Jeanne Damas x Juliette Lévy-Cohen
To mark the launch of La Trousse de l'Eté Rouje x Oh My Cream Skincare, Jeanne & Juliette discuss entrepreneurship, their vision of beauty... and, of course, the story of this summer's must-have fashion & beauty collab!
Has this love of beauty always been part of you?
Jeanne My mother passed on to me the simple, essential values of beauty. When I was very young, I understood that the sun could be very bad for my skin and my health: we didn't go out in the sun from midday to 4pm, and I've always used factor 50 cream. Even today, I include sun protection in my beauty routine every day of the year. I've also always loved to see the skin, the little peculiarities I call "perfect imperfections" and expression lines. I'm all for make-up that reveals rather than hides.
Juliette Juliette: I've always been passionate about beauty, as far back as I can remember. As a little girl, I used to sit on the edge of the bathtub and watch my mom getting ready before going out, chatting with her and trying on her products. I've always found her alluring without overdoing it, and she gave me a taste for "less is more", in skincare as in make-up: she taught me very early on the right gestures, to focus on the right products, to sublimate rather than camouflage. It was she who, at the end of my studies and when I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, encouraged me to do what I loved, to finally listen to myself, and make my passion my profession.
Jeanne, tell us about your story with Oh My Cream?
Jeanne: I discovered Oh My Cream thanks to its very first boutique in the Marais, because it was the only place that sold my rather niche, natural products like Léonor Greyl or Joëlle Ciocco. These were brands I had adopted after going off the pill and realizing that my hormonal skin problems needed to be soothed by the most cleansing products possible. And a few years later, an Oh My Cream! opened around the corner from the Rouje boutique and became my almost weekly stop-off for advice, to test new products or buy gifts.
