Superfoods for new skin by Faustine Hug (... and a recipe!)

The start of a new year is also an opportunity to set the record straight and make a fresh start. And who better than chef Faustine Hug to draw up an ideal shopping list of vitamin-rich ingredients (in season!) to be consumed without moderation to detoxify body and skin? And at the end of the article, discover a delicious recipe!

As for fruit...

Avocado: Good for the skin, this fruit is a good student of moisturizing, nourishing and cleansing the body. Thanks to avocados, our skin is plumper, more toned, softer and healthier!

Apple: It has incredible cell-regenerating power, nourishes dry skin by restoring the intracellular matrix (the cement that holds water in the skin), revitalizes and boosts skin radiance thanks to the quercetin and oligosides it contains.

Vegetables to choose...

Beet: Perfect for detoxifying the liver, boosting the lymphatic system and brightening the complexion. All while regulating excess sebum and fighting imperfections.

Celery stalks: Adopt the "svelte attitude" thanks to its glow-in-the-dark minerals and wonderful fiber! Celery aids digestion and reduces skin inflammation. It's the perfect ingredient to get rid of the bad vibes of the past year.

Fennel: Acts on water retention and purifies the body. Its little plus? It reduces the bloating that can occur after heavy holiday meals!

And to spice things up, spices...

Ginger: An excellent blood-circulation booster, it facilitates the elimination of toxins. It also acts on digestion and the balance of intestinal flora. Two essentials for a radiant complexion and even-toned skin.

Faustine's "beautiful skin" recipe

Detox salad

Ingredients

  • 1 fennel bulb
  • 120g spinach shoots
  • 1 whole, ripe avocado
  • ½ cucumber
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 bunch coriander
  • ½ head broccoli
  • 2 tablespoons unpasteurized cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (not too much, as it contains the avocado fat)
  • A pinch of pink Himalayan salt

Preparation

  1. Wash all the vegetables on the list in clean water.
  2. Steam broccoli for 5 minutes. It should remain "al dente".
  3. Peel the carrot, remove the first layer of fennel and its sprigs, cut the avocado in half and remove the stone and skin.
  4. Finely chop the fennel, celery, avocado, cucumber and carrots, and finely chop the coriander.
  5. Wash the spinach shoots and spin-dry well.
  6. In the bottom of a salad bowl, vigorously mix the vinegar, oil and salt.
  7. Add all the ingredients, mix and enjoy!
