We tested it for you... the Brow Lift

Have you heard of "Brow Lift", also known as "Brow Up"? Make no mistake, it's not a surgical technique, but a way of beautifying the eyes that aims to raise the eyebrows by modifying the upward movement of the hairs. We tell you a little more...

Like many new trends and techniques related to the look, Brow Lift was developed in Asia and extended to Latin America, responding to the needs of women who have a downward hair implantation. The practice was then adopted by Russian women, before spreading to the four corners of the world! It was spotted on catwalk looks before being democratized in many institutes today.

To go into a little more detail, this technique aims to fix each individual eyebrow hair in a precise position, working it in such a way as to make it easier to tame. To achieve this, the natural projection of the hair is modified by applying several products to make it malleable, so that it can then be easily (and durably) "lifted". The ultimate goal is to enhance and thicken eyebrows for a fuller, more voluminous effect.

What you need to know is that I haven't touched my eyebrows in years. I used to go to the beautician when I was younger, like many of us, to get a pretty line, but I didn't overdo the sessions because I ended up with fairly thick eyebrow hair, but... sparse eyebrows. So, on a daily basis, I use Brow Gel from the clean Ilia brand, which defines my eyebrows quite well, with a slightly thickening and coloring effect (notably to fill in the lack of hair in certain places).

So I arrive at this Rue Portefoin institute with a great deal of excitement, but also a little apprehension which dissipates as soon as Perle Edery welcomes me and tells me all about her career. In addition to her salon EYEDesigner salon in the Marais, she now trains numerous salons through the EYEDesigner Academy Paris in Vincennes. So I'm in very good hands.

The Brow Lift takes place in several stages. First, the hair is brushed upwards, then several products are applied in succession: a lifting solution, a neutralizing solution, then an oil to nourish the hairs. Each time a product is applied, Perle meticulously brushes my eyebrows upwards and then covers them with cellophane to take care of the other eyebrow. She shows me the steps as she goes along, so I can get used to this new look pretty quickly.

Then it's off to the waxing. I'd kind of forgotten about the pain of tweezing, but Perle is gentle and the result is so pretty that I finally let myself do it.

To finish on a high note, she applies a tint. - which she generally suggests for light brows, or for those with a few missing hairs in the brow - in order to optimize the result and gain in intensity. The great thing is that you can test a light, very malleable dye that will last just a few days, before "committing" to a longer-lasting dye. So I opt for the first option.

After my Brow Lift session, I have to say that my look has really changed! When I wore the mask, I got into the habit of putting more make-up on my eyes and eyebrows, but this time... My look went up a notch in just 30 minutes. My eyebrows are clearly restructured, fuller, denser and completely malleable. I understand why people use the word "lift" when they talk about this practice, because it gives you the impression of having more open. Perle remained attentive throughout the process, and the result is naturally stunning. I'll be going back with my eyes closed in 3 months' time when the effects have worn off.

Maintenance, do not wet eyebrows for 24 hours.. After these 24 hours, they need to be moisturized, as this technique can dry out the hair. Perle advises me to do this with coconut oil, brushing the hairs with a brush (which she gives me before leaving). After that, you don't have to do anything to your eyebrows for about 1 month You can brush them in the morning as you like, and they'll last all day, and without gel, which is pretty great. After this month, your eyebrows will hold for another 2 months or so using a gelThen it's time to come back to the salon, because you won't be able to do without your new eyebrows ;)

Finally, iff you can't get used to the result, you can also brush your eyebrows in a straighter fashion as the hairs are malleable, you can end up doing whatever you like with them, allowing several looks (by styling only the ends, for example, to create a spike, and folding back the rest of the eyebrow).
