In the bathroom of facialist Marie Peloille

She is one of those beauty experts who bring out a client’s radiance through both the gentleness of her touch and the precision of her advice. As a facialist and beauty consultant, Marie Peloille is a true authority in her field. While she cares for the faces that walk through the doors of her studio at the Bachaumont Hotel, she also lends her expertise to brands like Pers and Les Filles en Rouje, assisting them in the development of their formulations. With knowledge as specialized as it is impressive and a rare kindness, she is, in our eyes, one of those experts we trust implicitly.

Tell us all about yourself

“My name is Marie Peloille, and I’m a facialist and beauty consultant. After completing my studies in cosmetology, I had the opportunity to spend a year and a half in the United States pursuing a management program while continuing my athletic training, as I was competing in track and field. Upon my return, I took my first steps in the luxury sector at the Mandarin Oriental Palace in Paris, where I worked for over five years as a massage therapist for the spa’s opening. I then continued my career at Oh My Cream for seven years, primarily within the sales teams, notably for the launch and management of three boutiques, the latest of which is the flagship store on Rue Montmartre. During this time, I gained in-depth knowledge of skincare and cosmetics while regularly practicing in the treatment room. Three years ago, I decided to dedicate myself fully to the profession of facialist after completing various training courses in facial massage techniques.”

Did you always know you'd end up taking care of others?

“I’ve always been drawn to wellness and cosmetics, thanks to my mother, who worked for many years in a pharmacy. After thirteen years of experience and a strong desire to be as close as possible to my clients, the decision to become a facialist came naturally. I felt the need to broaden my expertise and adopt a holistic approach to skincare—one that includes the facial muscles and bone structure—in order to meet all my clients’ needs in the art of aging gracefully.”

You’re much more than just a skincare specialist; you also work with brands like Les Filles en Rouje, Pers, and Apoticari to help them develop their skincare products…

“I believe my role is precisely to offer a very practical perspective on skincare. For years—and even more so since becoming a facialist—I’ve been in direct contact with people’s skin, the real needs of women and men, their habits, and their frustrations. This allows me to provide brands with a more accurate approach—and, above all, one that’s less dictated by trends.  In my view, the value of a cosmetic product no longer lies solely in its ingredients, but in the experience, the rituals, and the expertise that the brand is able to build around it. That is precisely where the skincare regimen comes into its own.”

What has this dual approach taught you about the evolution of skincare?

“This dual approach has taught me that skincare has evolved significantly in recent years. Women—and men, too—are now much more informed, curious, and engaged in understanding their skin. As a facialist, I observe their expectations and how they use their products on a daily basis. At the same time, my work with brands allows me to understand the challenges of innovation and differentiation in a market that is constantly evolving and, above all… highly saturated. Today, the difference is no longer made solely by the product, but by the experience and expertise that the brand is able to provide.”

How would you define your vision of beauty?

“My view of beauty has evolved significantly over the years and through the faces I’ve had the chance to encounter. At first, I was more focused on the aesthetic aspect of skincare—and I still am a little bit (because I love understanding the skin’s needs and tailoring my treatments accordingly!). But with experience, I’ve come to realize that what truly moves me isn’t the pursuit of perfection, but the story a face tells—because all of that is written in our features. That’s what I’m passionate about: understanding each skin type in its uniqueness and guiding people toward what truly suits them.”

What are the must-haves in your bathroom for taking care of your skin right now?

“Right now, my essentials are:

For the body, the Goop Beauty Microderm Instant Glow Body Polish by Goop Beauty—it leaves my skin so soft after application! And I follow up with a moisturizing oil infused with almond oil, which smells divine and deeply hydrates my skin.

For my face, I've been using a lot of Dive In Multi Pad Toning and Soothing Pads to either moisturize or clarify my skin. The Apoticari eye cream is perfect for this season because it’s light and minty; it gives me that refreshing feeling around my eyes—I love it!

The last essential is, of course, sunscreen. I switch between the onesfrom Oh My Cream Skincare and PERS. By the way, here’s a quick tip: avoid putting perfume on your skin at all costs during this time, because UV rays and alcohol make a very bad combination and can cause dark spots!”

Have you always taken care of yourself?

“Yes, overall! As a former athlete, I’ve always taken great care of my body. I love getting regular massages. And when it comes to skincare, I’ve definitely become a skincare aficionado, especially since my experience at Oh My Cream (which, let’s be honest, is a real beauty cult!).”

As a beauty expert, you must try out a lot of products… What are the must-haves you always come back to, no matter the season?

“My must-haves are: double cleansing with theOh My Cream Skincareand a cleanser (either a milk in the winter, or a gel or foam in the summer). I wouldn’t skip this essential step for anything in the world—it makes a real difference in the quality of your skin.”

ThePai Skincare Regenerate Organic Oil by Pai Skincare—I love the dewy finish it gives my skin! It’s easy to incorporate into my routine, either mixed into my moisturizer in the morning or used at night, either on its own or layered over my night cream. I also sometimes dab a little on my cheekbones after applying makeup to add a touch of radiance.

Finally, ever since I had the opportunity to serve on the jury for Madame Figaro, I’ve discovered the My Blend Lip Expert Pro Collagen by My Blend. I’m a huge fan: it instantly plumps my lips while keeping them well-hydrated all day long. I can’t live without it!”

Beyond cosmetics, what are your wellness rituals?

“My morning routine, From moment From wake up: the Holidermie tongue scraperby Holidermie and mouthwash—I feel so good after doing it! Then, since last September, I’ve been taking 5 to 10 minutes to stretch in my living room, following Clarisse Ernoux’s videos to wake up my body and start my skincare routine off on the right foot. I’ve noticed a real difference in my posture and flexibility since I started doing this. And I finish the mini-session by drinking a glass of room-temperature water before going to wake up my kids. In the evening, I always finish my shower with a blast of cold water on my legs (or even my whole body if I’m feeling motivated!) to boost blood flow. And instead of reading while lying down in bed as usual, I sit with my legs propped up against the wall to keep my blood circulating and help me feel lighter as I fall asleep.”

What are the key steps for taking care of your face?

“I spend a minute each day on lymphatic drainage, which helps eliminate toxins, oxygenate the tissues, and restore radiance to the complexion. To do this, I use a gua sha tool, applying it gently and flat against the skin.

I always finish applying my cream by massaging my neck. I place my hands under my ears and move down to the level of the collarbone, where the lymphatic ganglion chain ends. I also perform Jacquet pinching almost every day. Done on dry skin, these quick, deep pinches on the cheekbones work the muscle, improve oxygenation, and boost microcirculation. Simply pinch the skin between your thumb and index finger, using the pads of your fingers.”

Tell us about your own signature protocol

“I designed my skincare protocol as a completely customized approach, based on observing and listening to (analyzing) the face. Every face has its own story, its own tensions, needs, and imbalances. My job is to analyze them carefully in order to create a treatment that is perfectly tailored to the person sitting in front of me.”

My method combines various facial, lifting, and drainage techniques to improve skin quality, enhance facial contours, and promote overall well-being. After a thorough assessment, I select the most appropriate products and techniques and tailor them to your current needs: relieving muscle tension, stimulating circulation, promoting lymphatic drainage, restoring radiance to the complexion, or sculpting facial contours.

I also enjoy combining manual techniques with beauty tools such as lymphatic brushes, mushrooms, and gua sha, which help enhance certain effects of the treatment and target specific areas more precisely. This combination of techniques creates a dynamic and deeply personalized treatment plan.

And I always end my treatments with a consultation during which I provide a personalized “beauty regimen”; the idea is that every client leaves with tailored advice.

"My goal is to offer a genuine opportunity to reconnect with yourself!"

What do you think is the underrated skincare step that makes all the difference?

“Cool water to splash on your face. In addition to waking you up, cool water has many benefits, such as promoting vasoconstriction and firming the skin. It’s a habit my mom passed down to me—she used to work in a pharmacy and always has plenty of great tips. Seeing her splash cool water on her face every morning really stuck with me.”

What do you think is the game-changing product for boosting skin radiance in 5 minutes?

 “Ouch, I have two!”

The Dermalogica Multi-Vitamin Power Recovery by Dermalogica (which, by the way, is Victoria Beckham’s “first-aid kit in a tube”), or the Black Rose mask by Sisley, which is a real gem for radiance.”

If you could only keep one beauty routine for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

“Without a doubt, self-massage—the power of the hands—is irreplaceable—and I say that with complete objectivity, or almost! It’s a ritual of mindfulness and reconnecting with oneself. Just a few minutes are enough to relax the facial muscles, stimulate circulation, and restore a more relaxed and radiant complexion.”

How do you envision the future of skincare?

“I envision a more thoughtful future for skincare. For a long time, we’ve been caught up in a mindset of ‘more is better’: more active ingredients, more steps, more products. I believe, on the contrary, that we’re going to return to routines that are more targeted, more personalized, and above all, more adaptable.”

Today, we know that skin is never static. It changes with the seasons, age, lifestyle, stress, and hormonal shifts. The skincare of tomorrow will need to be able to adapt to these changes rather than impose a single routine to follow all year round.

I also believe that personalized support will become increasingly important. Consumers are looking for solutions tailored to their skin, as well as advice on how to better understand it.”

What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions about skincare?

“A common misconception is that skin aging is limited to expression lines such as wrinkles. In reality, skin quality, complexion radiance, firmness, hydration, and facial contours play an equally important role in the appearance of the face.”

What's the best beauty tip you've ever been given?

“Protect your skin from the sun every day, even when it’s cloudy! After taking a training course with the Esthederm brand, I learned that UV rays are responsible for 80% of premature skin aging, so prevention is better than cure. And that’s the advice I’d like to share. I’m making sure my loved ones know to apply sunscreen at least from March through October. UV rays are largely responsible for premature skin aging. Beyond signs of aging and dark spots, there’s a real risk of developing skin diseases.”
