Essential oils to the rescue!

They may have already relieved a headache or made your sleep easier... They are essential oils! But be careful: just because they are available for free sale and 100% natural, there are no rules to follow to use them safely. A little zoom on the essential oils that are essential in our medicine cabinets and advice on their use from Aurélie Canzoneri, our favorite naturopath.

Some precautions before use...

  • As a precautionary measure, I do not recommend them for pregnant (and/or nursing) women, nor for children .
  • Avoid exposure to the sun after application (especially lemon or bergamot essential oils) which could leave brown spots on the skin.
  • Avoid self-medication: it is better to seek advice from a health professional. Moreover, they do not replace a medication.
  • Avoid ingesting essential oils (although some can be ingested, it is always best to ask a professional).
  • Before use, test the essential oil in the crease of the elbow to ensure that it does not cause a skin reaction.
  • Never use an essential oil on mucous membranes, in the nose, ears.
