Wellness secrets from Emily Oberg, founder of Sporty & Rich
Since 2015, she's been revolutionizing the world of sportswear with her Sporty & Rich label, with its chic, vintage inspirations. With the launch of her beauty range, just arrived at Oh My Cream, Emily Oberg continues to develop her Wellness Club. Meet the It-Girl with a well-honed wellness routine.
What's your morning routine like?
I try not to check my phone as soon as I wake up, but living in Los Angeles while my team is in Paris 9 hours early complicates things. I brush my teeth, scratch my tongue, take my dietary supplements, drink a liter of room-temperature water and go to my Pilates class. I usually eat a piece of fruit or a yoghurt, as I don't like to stay on an empty stomach.
How did Sporty & Rich and then the Sporty & Rich Beauty range come about?
Everything I do has an influence on the Sporty & Rich brand and the products we design for Sporty & Rich Beauty. Above all, I love working on products that I'm passionate about, and in which I have a personal interest. Without that, it would be difficult for me to develop fully. I draw inspiration from my own routines to build my brand: the products I use, the skincare products I use, all my little daily habits...
What are your other well-being rituals?
I exercise every day: I play tennis, I like to go to the gym or take part in group classes... I eat a healthy and varied diet (taking particular care to limit processed foods). I also like to journal, meditate, breathe and spend time outdoors, especially in nature. I love hiking in Los Angeles and walking in Paris. For my mental health, I see two different therapists and read a lot of books on personal development. I also listen to a lot of podcasts on the subject.
I need to exercise once or twice a day, every day. I love to move my body and sweat, I feel so good. I do Hot Pilates and tennis, I also do light jogging on a treadmill and sometimes I do my own workout with light weights.
I always make sure to express my gratitude at any time of the day. I think it's important to remember all the good things I have in my life, so that when something negative happens, I don't dwell on it too much. I think living in a state of gratitude is the key to happiness.
Any advice for those looking to improve their wellness ritual?
I'd say it's important to prioritize, to distance yourself from work and the need to be available to everyone at all times. I think it's also important to make promises to yourself and keep them. Find something you love, whether it's a workout or a wellness routine, because if you don't love it, you probably won't do it. The aim of life is to make every moment as enjoyable as possible.
