Composition

    Our customers share their opinion

What type of skin can use an ointment?

At first glance, ointments seem more suited to dry skin... Just as, for years, vegetable oils may have been outlawed for combination to oily skin. And yet! We now know that certain fats are not just for crocodile skin. On the contrary: rather than trying to eliminate sebum at all costs with drying active ingredients, certain vegetable oils in particular mimic the skin's own sebum, encouraging it to produce less. The ointment can therefore be used without concern by combination to oily skin types, although its use should be limited to the evening or a few days a week. Calming, it is particularly well-suited to sensitive and/or irritated, or even totally intolerant, skin.

Moisturizing cream or ointment: what's the difference?

If the moisturizing cream is widely used on a daily basis, ointment is less so. This is probably because its richness means that it needs to be worked harder to penetrate... Combination to oily skin can therefore easily become shiny if ointment is applied during the day, for example. The ointment is rich in fats but retains a creamy texture, unlike the cult classic Egyptian Magic Balm for example, which is also rich in fats but transforms into oil on contact with the skin. The ointment is therefore much more like a cold cream.

Dry skin ointment: the beauty essential

Of course, dry skin in particular will find the ointment a source of instant and lasting comfort by making it part of their beauty routine. The reason? By its very nature, dry skin lacks fatty substances, as its sebum production is insufficient. It therefore needs to be supplemented with lipids so that it can rebuild its shield against external aggressions.

Body ointment to save thirsty skin

Rough elbows, dry legs or even itching... Nothing beats a body ointment to relieve discomfort and dryness. Although we're well aware of its many benefits, we can quickly put our body ointment on the shelf because it takes more time (and effort) to be properly applied and absorbed by the skin. The foolproof trick? Always use it just out of the shower: the moisture and warmth make it much easier to absorb.
