City Guide: in Sweden with L:a Bruket

Looking for something different? Get your travel kit ready for a trip to Sweden. We asked nature-inspired Swedish ritual brand L:a Bruket to share its favorite addresses for visiting Sweden's west coast in style.

Why visit Varberg?

Birthplace of the brand L:a BruketVarberg is a small seaside town on Sweden's west coast. It offers direct access to the sea while remaining a short distance from Gothenburg. The climate is typical of the coast, marked by constant changes between rain, sun and wind, but this is what gives this spa destination its charm, for whom well-being is paramount. The town's energy has been greatly influenced by its traditional sauna and surfing culture.

The perfect weekend in Varberg

A perfect weekend starts with a brisk walk along the coast, followed by a swim in the ocean or a hot sauna followed by a cold bath in Kallbadhuset. Nothing gets you in better shape than this typically Swedish ritual, especially in winter. The day continues in Träslövsläge, the old fishing port to the south of the city. Enjoy lunch atJoel's Brygga while taking in the sights and sounds of the port. Then head to Kaffeboden for a café at the end of the quay, where you can watch the surfers take to the waves. Before heading home, stop off at Läjets Fisk for fresh seafood for dinner.

For a Swedish beauty ritual: Kallbadhuset

The place to be: Kallbadhuset. It stands on stilts in the water near the town's harbor and houses a wing for men and one for women, each with different saunas. And if you get too hot, you can take a refreshing dip in the sea. For the more courageous (and nudity-loving), Skarpe Nord (for women) and Goda Hopp (for men), are located just south of the fortress, along the coastal promenade"Strandpromenaden".

If you want to explore coastal nature, dive into the water from the cliffs of Getterön, just north of Varberg. Choose the"5:e Vik" and walk north along the path that leads to flat rocks and an unforgettable sunset. You shouldn't missApelviken beach either, with its beach stretching out into the water.

For an introduction to surfing: Surfers Varberg

Friends and entrepreneurs of the founders of L:a Bruket , Surfers Varberg and Markus Boman have been shaping and boosting Varberg's reputation for decades with their teams and activities. The perfect place to learn how to ride a wave!

For a walk in the heart of nature

Stroll along the Strandpromenaden, a coastal promenade that stretches from the fort to Apelviken along the shoreline. If you're beginning to tire of the sea view or fear the wind is too strong, turn towards Åkulla Bokskogar and take one of the paths through the magnificent beech forests instead.

For sea shipments: Vågrät

For adventurers looking for a new experience, book a seaweed expedition with Louise at Vågrät. She supplies gourmet restaurants with a variety of plants from the Varberg coastline. An underwater tour to discover and learn all about these edible things that grow in the open sea.
