While we're free to choose the colour we want to enhance our lips, there are some shades that are more suited to our skin tone than others, and can brighten up our smile all the more. Here are our tips for choosing the ideal colour lipstick, lip balm, lip gloss or lip oil for your skin tone.

How to choose the right colour lipstick?

It's the beauty accessory you always have at the bottom of your handbag. A true ally with an almost immediate "healthy glow" effect, whether it's matte, creamy or glossy... And while we've put together a guide to help you find the lip product that's right for you, there are many tricks to finding the most flattering shade for your face. As with finding the perfect foundation, concealer or blush, it's essential to know your skin tone and undertone (your skin's basic colour ) to find your lipstick shade.

How do you know your undertone?

To determine your undertone, the key is not to look at your colour skin, but to focus on the colour veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins are blue, you have a cold undertone; if they're green, your undertone is warm. If you can't distinguish the colour of your veins, you have a neutral undertone.

Pink and raspberry lipstick for cool undertones

To find the right lipstick for a cooler skin tone, the ideal is to go for shades with a hint of blue or violet. If blue or darker colors suit you best, a plum or violet lipstick will look great on you. If orange tones aren't the most recommended for cool undertones, a red or raspberry lip product will compliment your lips perfectly.
