How to choose the right blush?

5 tips for applying blush like a pro?

1. Whether powder, cream or liquid, the first rule of blush application is to start with very little. It's best to work the product in as much as possible, then add more if necessary. If there's too much, it's always a little trickier to tone it down afterwards.

2. If the blush is powder, tap off any excess with the brush (on the lid, for example). If the blush is cream, pick up the material with a brush or your fingers. Then blend a small amount onto the back of your hand before applying to cheekbones.

3. Apply as required:

For a natural "healthy glow" effect: apply a round blush to the center of the cheekbone, using gentle circular movements with a brush, or directly with your finger for a cream blush. If the shade is peach/apricot, apply a hint to the bridge of the nose for an even more natural look.

For a more structured effect: between the cheekbone and the "hollow" of the cheek, lengthening the shape.

"In the case of localized redness on the nose and cheeks, apply blush without getting too close to the nose to avoid making the redness stand out".

4. Blend by tapping or small circular movements. For a perfect finish, use a foundation brush or your concealer brush to soften contours. The more you work the material, the more natural the result.

5. For a luminous, natural look, add a little illuminator with a finger or brush, towards the top of the cheekbone, or even subtly blend down to the temples.

Powder, cream, liquid... Which blush for which result?

Powder blush for a satin finish

Universal, it can be applied with a brush and is suitable for all skin types without exception. It's ideal if you want a satin finish without being too shiny. It can therefore be a good option for combination to oily skin that fears shine, and is fairly easy to apply.

Cream blush for a "glowy" finish

An excellent asset for dehydrated skin, because it often contains vegetable oils or beeswax, this product can be a real skincare product. It's very intuitive to apply, either with a finger or a brush, and blends seamlessly with the skin. It can also be used on lips and eyes.

Liquid blush for a glowy or matte finish

Its finish varies enormously depending on the reference used. Often much more pigmented, you need to know how to dose it well and, above all, how to work it in quickly, as it penetrates very quickly. For this reason, we prefer to reserve it for those more accustomed to it, even though it has the advantage of excellent all-day hold.

Oops, I applied too much blush!

This can be corrected by going over the affected area with a brush or foundation sponge (ideally, if there's still a little foundation on top), to blend the material in as much as possible.

I have redness and/or small pimples. Can I use blush without making them stand out?

Don't be afraid to use blush - it would be a shame not to add that little extra "healthy glow"! If you've worked your complexion well beforehand and concealed what you want to hide with concealer, a hint of pink won't stand out. If you're still worried about redness showing through, opt for a peachy/apricot shade. However, we don't recommend shades that are too orange: too far from your skin tone, they won't give a very natural look...

Did you know?

In fact, pink blushes are suitable for all skin tones: it's just a question of finding the right shade. A bois de rose for light to medium shades, a darker violet (or even flashy) pink for medium, matte to dark complexions.
