In the bathroom of Pierre Sauvage, director of Casa Lopez

Casa Lopez, a lifestyle brand with a vibrant, Latin-inspired flair, cultivates a sunny world where everyday objects blend elegance with artisanal craftsmanship. To mark our collaboration on the Summer Tote, we sat down with Pierre Sauvage, the director of this iconic brand, to learn more about his vision of beauty and his personal care rituals.

Tell us all about yourself

“My name is Pierre Sauvage, and I’ve been at the helm of Casa Lopez for 11 years now. I began my career in public relations at Dior, then at Jean Charles de Castelbajac. I then became a partner in a press and public relations agency specializing in luxury goods for 14 years. After supporting designers and business leaders for some twenty years, I wanted to try my hand at it myself. I had known about Casa Lopez for a long time and was very eager to take over the brand. It was the only one for which I had a clear vision for growth.”

Where does your passion and love for the art of living come from?

“Loving life, nature, wanting to stage things, make them work, loving objects, cooking, decor, and friends—that’s pretty much what it’s all about for me.”

How does beauty influence your work and the world of Casa Lopez?

“Casa Lopez draws heavy inspiration from nature, Spain, and the Mediterranean; it embodies the idea of a sunny, colorful El Dorado. Casa Lopez is a vibrant, joyful Latin-inspired world where objects flow freely from the garden into the home.”

And how did this world inspire the creation of the Summer Tote?

“This tote bag is something of a symbol of Casa Lopez. It’s an essential in which you can fit just about everything—your daily essentials, beauty products, and the little joys of everyday life. In the summer, it holds beach towels, sunscreen, and the kids’ toys; in the winter, it holds files and laptops, and it can even double as a weekend bag. It’s practical and features one of the brand’s iconic patterns: the wickerwork found on the garden trellises. The brand’s second iconic motif is leopard print, which takes on various forms at Casa Lopez: cushions, rugs, matchboxes, and more…”

"There is something obvious about this encounter. Taking care of your face or your inner self is, at its core, the same act: a moment of solitude, something deeply personal."

What did you like about this interplay between lifestyle and beauty?

“For me, it stems from the same desire: the desire to treat oneself, to take time for oneself. Both are ways of life, about dedicating time and meaning to taking care of oneself and feeling good. Taking care of your face or your home is, at its core, the same act: a moment spent with yourself, something deeply personal. This collaboration came about quite naturally. Summer, travel, vacations—these are realms Casa Lopez has long inhabited. The tote bag, the sarong: items designed for a certain way of life.”

Have you always taken care of yourself?

“Yes, always—sometimes even quickly—but it’s a moment when you’re face to face with yourself in front of the mirror. It clears your head.”

If someone walked into your bathroom, what would it say about you?

“My bathroom feels more like a living room than a bathroom. It has a 19th-century rug and a desk. It reflects my taste for comfort and my desire to take my time.”

What are the beauty essentials for taking care of your skin?

“Always the Oh My Cream Skincare Cleansing Gelfrom Oh My Cream Skincare, then a hydrating serum, followed by a hydrating emulsion. In the winter, I use the Oh My Cream Skincare Rich Firming Cream and in the summer, theSPF 50+ Sunscreen , which protects and moisturizes really well without being greasy, and after a day in the sun, I really like the Repairative Moisturizer byTata Harper.”

And among the products in the Summer Bag, what are the beauty essentials you always take with you in the summer?

“First, theEau Solaire SPF50+  I mentioned earlier—a must-have for protecting your skin. But also the Skin Revive Mimétique serum and the BalancefulTorriden for a hydration boost.”

What self-care ritual could you not live without?

Ultimately, what does “taking care of yourself” mean to you?

“Take the time to live life at a leisurely pace.”
