In Charlotte Huguet's makeup bag

Stylist, creative director, poet of images. Charlotte Huguet navigates between fashion and beauty with a sensibility shaped by twenty years spent in women's magazines, before founding her own creative agency. Today, she approaches makeup as a living material, a texture to be molded, an emotional language. In her makeup bag as in her work, every gesture is intentional, every colour a state of mind. We meet this creative artist with a refreshing vision.

Tell us all about yourself

“My name is Charlotte Huguet, I am a creative director and stylist, working in both fashion and beauty. I worked in women's magazines for 20 years before setting up my own creative agency. My career has been shaped by my inspirations, projects, and encounters. I have a very instinctive, almost pictorial approach to my research, where each project is conceived as a visual poem. I am inspired by the unexpected, I transform mistakes into choices, I let myself be carried along by the group to define a new way of looking at things."

How does your work influence your relationship with beauty?

“I am working more and more on beauty campaigns and am often called upon as a texture stylist. I approach makeup as a living material. I compose images like paintings, playing with textures, colors, and light. I discover a beauty product or material and explore it to try to highlight its qualities. I love telling stories, because beauty is both an infinite playground and a real source of inspiration for me."

How would you define beauty?

“Beauty lies in emotion, in intention, in what is right. It guides my creative process: I always seek to reveal rather than transform, to allow a form of sensitive truth to emerge in each project. Beauty is also revealed in details: a blue sky dotted with clouds, leaves rustling in the forest. It can be seen by those who are willing to look. Finally, for me, a beauty routine is an intimate language. It tells the story of our relationship with time, with ourselves, with our bodies. It reflects an intention, a sensitivity, a way of inhabiting the world."

Does your job influence the way you apply your makeup?

“Yes, deeply. By working with makeup itself, I ended up creating my own lipstick ranges. I reinvent products, mix them, adapt them to my feelings and desires, as a natural extension of my artistic work. I often work with makeup artists who also inspire my world and my approach to makeup, both by watching them work and thanks to their valuable advice."

What's your favorite part of your face to wear makeup on?

“Without hesitation, lips. For me, it's the simple and effective solution. Whatever the weather, I can save the day with a well-chosen lipstick, its colour with my emotions. It reflects my mood and acts as a safe and solid bulwark against the world.”

What's in your makeup bag?

“A selection of essential products, chosen for their texture, finish, and sensoriality, which correspond to a simple yet expressive beauty: the Lip Balm by Susanne Kaufmann by Susanne Kaufmann, the Lip Sketch Hydrating Lip Crayon by Ilia, the Concealer and Mineral Powder byOh My Cream Skincare, the Cream Blush by Tata Harper, Satin Kajal Liner by Victoria Beckham Beauty, the Shine BalmViolette_fr, Featherlash Lifting Serum by Goop Beauty.”

You now live in the countryside. What beauty rituals connect you to this new environment?

“I make my own herbal teas with plants from the garden: verbena, sage, mint, all the herbs I grow. I also make my own scrubs with coffee grounds. I take the time to sit in front of my wood stove and let its warmth envelop me. I walk a lot in the forest and leave behind the stress that has built up during the week. I do a lot of sports (yoga, climbing, Pilates), which allows me to connect with my body. These simple actions connect me deeply with nature and the rhythm of the seasons."

How has your relationship with makeup and self-care evolved?

“I wear very little makeup these days, aiming for as natural a look as possible: a little mascara, a touch of blush, and the difference is made with a more or less tinted lipstick. Since I've been living in the countryside, my rhythm has changed. I'm more attentive to my needs and my rest. I allow myself quiet moments that let me let go, regulate myself, and live without forcing myself to respond to external demands."

What's the one simple thing you do to feel good about yourself, even on "off" days?

“I massage my face, releasing the key points. I also massage my hands and stomach. I breathe slowly, inhaling and exhaling at the same time, to bring myself back to the present.”

Is there a lesson that living away from Paris has taught you about beauty and well-being?

“I have learned to follow my instincts more naturally. I no longer seek to please others, but to feel good about myself. Well-being comes from within: it stems from the time we allow ourselves, from listening, from self-respect. Style does not depend on trends but on personal choices. It can be timeless, consistent, nourished by the essential. Beauty flows naturally from this state of inner balance."

What beauty tips would you give to someone who wants to add a little creativity to their daily routine?

“Choosing to highlight a single part of your face—your lips, your eyes—as you would choose an accessory, focusing on the essentials.”
