We tested it for you... Coolsculpting® by Fanny

After testing hyaluronic acid injectionsFanny, our 33-year-old Communications Manager, wanted to try Coolsculpting® to reshape and lighten the oval of her face, which tends to become heavier with age. It's a method that's catching on because it's non-invasive, requires no anaesthetic and, above all, leaves no scars! Explanations by Dr. Olivier Claudeplastic and aesthetic surgeon in Paris.

What exactly is Coolsculpting® or cryolipolysis?

Aesthetic medicine treatment, cryolipolysis is used to treat localized excess fat. The treatment involves applying cold at minus 11°C for 30 to 40 minutes to the areas to be treated. As fat is more sensitive to cold than skin, it liquefies and then eliminates itself. Doctor Olivier Claude explains:"This is not a weight-loss technique, but it should be considered when weight has stabilized."

On which areas of the face or body should it be used?

Double chins and jowl fat respond very well to cryolipolysis. On the body, the preferred areas for this technology are: the waistline, arms, thighs, fat above the knees and above the breasts under the arms... Doctor Olivier Claude explains that "the areas to be treated will depend on the medical examination.the areas to be treated will depend on the medical examination which will specify the type of fat (depth, density...) and the body analysis. Some areas will be treated 2, 3 or even 4 times during the same session. This is known as "overlap".

What results can we achieve? How long and how many sessions?

Coolsculpting® or cryolipolysis reduces fat thickness by approximately 25 to 50%.. However, results depend in particular on the number of times cold is applied to the area during the session. The aim is to restore a harmonious silhouette, or to lighten the lower part of the face to restore a well-defined oval.

For the vast majority of patients, a single session is generally required. Only 15% of patients undergo a second (often lighter) session around 3 to 6 months later, to optimize the result.

Fanny's experience, DIrectrice Communication

"Since I blew out my 30 candles, it's (unfortunately) not a myth that the skin on my face pulls down, and the oval of my face.. My weight is fairly stable, but for some time now, little jowls and a double chin that I affectionately call "glouglou" have appeared. A mixture of skin and fat, I'm told, which unfortunately can't be removed, and which really bothers me when I'm photographed in profile... It's all I can see! When I had my hyaluronic acid injections with Dr Olivier Claude a few months ago (notably on the jawline area), he told me about Coolsculpting® as a possible solution to my problem. So I decided to give it a try!"

How does a Coolsculpting® session work ?

After a personalized diagnosis, Le Doctor Olivier Claude begins by drawing dots with a felt-tip pen on the areas to be treated (lower face and neck for Fanny) to delimit the areas to be treated with the machine's applicator. In Fanny's case, 3 applicators were needed (one on each side of the neck and one in the middle, superimposed), for a total of 3 45-minute sessions.

The session takes place almost lying down. The practitioner positions the applicator on the areas to be treated, then the patient remains motionless for 45 minutes (per area) for the treatment to take effect. The treatment is painless, but a slight tingling sensation at the beginning of the session and discomfort when the applicator is removed may be felt! The skin of the treated area is a little numb and red for a few days, but you can resume normal activity the next day. you can resume normal activity the same day !

Coolsculpting® results and benefits

To see the final result, you need to wait between 1? and 3 months. At +3 weeks, a noticeable difference can be seen, particularly in the facial contours, which are better defined.

Fanny explains:"I still have a little numbness in my double chin area, which is normal as it takes several weeks for the fat to dissolve. The key to even more visible results: massage every day, morning and evening (and possibly wear a girdle at night). I can't wait to see the final results on my adorable glouglou, but I'm sure they'll be amazing! If need be, I can also do another session to maximize the result."
