We tested it for you... Morpheus 8, the anti-ageing technology that improves skin quality

After testing hyaluronic acid and Botox injections and Botox injections Coolsculpting to reshape the oval of the face, Fanny, our communications director, once again pushed open the door of Doctor Olivier Claude's practice to discover the new fractional radiofrequency and micro-needling technology: Morpheus 8. Here's what you need to know about this anti-aging treatment.

#seo: Morpheus Care 8

What is the Morpheus 8 radiofrequency and micro-needling technique?

Winner of the 2020 prize for innovation in aesthetic medicine, the Morpheus 8 technique offers stunning results on skin quality, all without surgery. But what is this technology that attracts beauty addicts in search of regenerating action on the skin? Explanations from Dr. Olivier Claudecosmetic surgeon in Paris.

"Morpheus 8 is the latest generation of fractional radiofrequency with micro-needling. It is a treatment that remodels the face and body, providing in-depth skin rejuvenation and regeneration, as well as tissue renewal, by acting on :

  • Skin slackening thanks to a "lifting" effect

  • Skin imperfections (wrinkles, scars and stretch marks)

  • Localized excess fat

Micro-needling uses micro-perforations in the skin to stimulate collagen production. Often performed on its own in a beauty salon, this type of isolated treatment produces relatively poor results. It must be combined with mesotherapy serums and/or growth factors to obtain interesting results.

What are the benefits of a Morpheus 8 treatment for the skin?

"Radiofrequency treatments are based on the emission of very high-frequency, highly localized electromagnetic waves, passing through the skin to heat subcutaneous tissues by producing heat (up to 55°). This heat stimulates the cells' fibroblasts and their production of collagen and elastin fibers, improving skin elasticity and firmness for an instant radiance boost.

Morpheus 8 offers a triple action to firm skin and improve its appearance, suppleness and elasticity, and reduce subcutaneous fat. In this way, Morpheus can act on different areas of the body to treat sagging skin, smooth wrinkles or reduce scarring. "

On the face and décolleté, it treats :

  • Facial sagging of the oval of the face

  • Loose neck

  • Fine lines on the forehead, eye contour or perioral area

  • Acne scars

  • Cleavage

On the body, it can treat sagging skin and small areas of excess fat:

  • The arms

  • Abdomen and waist (or hips)

  • Thighs (inner side and stretch marks)

  • Buttocks (sagging skin and stretch marks)

  • The knees

How does it differ from other aesthetic medicine techniques?

"The combination of radiofrequency and micro-needling is a real revolution in aesthetic medicine! The treatment is more effective and more powerful than other fractional radiofrequency techniques, since Morpheus 8 can penetrate subcutaneous adipose tissue to a depth of up to 8 mm, thanks to micro-needles that penetrate the dermis and hypodermis, containing subcutaneous fat, to deliver rapid heat energy. What's more, side effects (pain, redness, even burns) are limited, and comfort during treatment is optimized."

Procedure and results of fractional radiofrequency treatment

The Morpheus 8 session is customized to the needs and desires of each patient, and lasts around 30 minutes. The treatment begins with a thorough cleansing and disinfection of the skin. And after applying an anesthetic cream to the skin for comfort, the session can begin.

The intensity of the radiofrequency energy, the depth of microneedling (1 to 8 mm), and the number of passes are adapted to each session and customized for each patient to optimize results. With each impact, the 24 needles penetrate the subcutaneous space to deliver the radiofrequency energy.

Depending on the patient, combined treatments such as mesotherapy can be used during the session to reinforce the synergy of the treatments.

At the end of the session, a regenerating moisturizing cream is applied to the skin. It's important to repeat the application 3 to 4 times a day for 48 hours, in order to reduce any secondary redness and oedema. The skin remains sensitized for around 15 days, although redness is usually limited to 1 or 2 days. It is therefore important to avoid any potentially irritating skin care products (with fruit acids or retinol), and to avoid exposure to the sun for 15 days, not forgetting to use SPF 50 every time you go out.

Who can practice Morpheus 8?

Doctor Olivier Claude usually recommends 2 to 4 sessions, spaced 3 to 5 weeks apart, to optimize the results of Morpheus 8. Improvement will be visible within 3 to 6 weeks of treatment. According to Dr. Olivier Claude, this treatment can be performed at the first signs of sagging, usually around age 35. In this way, it helps prevent skin ageing.

Fanny's opinion on Morpheus 8 treatment

"I do a Morpheus 8 treatment at Doctor Olivier Claude's practice or at Innerskin, 3 times a year, 1 month apart. Admittedly, the treatment itself isn't very pleasant - just look at the state of my skin after the session, which remains red for 24 hours. Make-up is forbidden for the next 48 hours, and only Cicalfate cream is our best friend. But I can assure you, it's all very bearable, and the results are insane in terms of skin quality, radiance and texture: imperfections are reduced and skin texture is refined... What's more, the tightening and plumping effect is visible after just a few days." - Fanny, Communications Director
