What is glycolic acid?

A powerful exfoliating agent, glycolic acid is the star fruit acid of chemical exfoliation, or professional peels. Ideal to replace the small grains present in many face peels that are a little too aggressive on the skin, it can really make a difference since it penetrates deep into the skin. Thanks to its powerful exfoliatorThanks to its powerful cleansing power, it "nibbles" at the surface of the epidermis and slightly underneath to leave the skin smooth and even. Tightened pores, pleasantly soft skin, reduction of pigmentation spots or pimple scars, etc. Glycolic acid is a true daily beauty ally for a new skin and an essential part of an anti-aging routine. In fact, it promotes cell renewal and the synthesis of collagen and elastin for a real action on wrinkles and fine lines.

How to perform a glycolic acid peel?

The peel is a chemical exfoliation based on fruit acids. The most common is the glycolic acid peel. This peel exfoliates the skin to eliminate dead cells and promote cell renewal, for clearer, smoother and more even skin. Depending on the concentration of glycolic acid and other exfoliating agents such as retinol andsalicylic acida peel will be more or less powerful and deep. The most sensitive skin, or skin that is new to peels, will prefer to use gentle peels with 5% glycolic acid, while skin that is more accustomed to exfoliating products can use more concentrated peels with a dose of 15% glycolic acid. Note that the more concentrated the peel, the more important it is to space out the uses. It is therefore preferable to avoid using a glycolic acid peel more than twice a week, in order not to sensitize the skin. We recommend that you use a peel in the evening to avoid any risk of photosensitization, and that you always use sun protection as a complement.
