What's my skin type?

The basis of a truly effective beauty routine? Knowing yourself 100%! However, a little bird tells us that if you're here, it's because you're not sure about your skin type... We'll help you find out before you go shopping!

Different skin types

Did you know that we're all born with a predefined skin type? It's genetic, in our DNA. As a result, our skin type our skin type can't changeno matter what products we use.

On the other hand, a non-adapted beauty routine can give you a distorted view of your skin: for example, you may think your skin is dry, just because you use products that are too drying, when in fact it's normal.

Normal skin

Appearance Smooth skin, even tone, pores slightly visible but tightened. Moderate shine on the T-zone possible, but only in the middle of the day.

Touch Velvety smooth.

Feel Nothing in particular. Possible tightness after washing.

*Good to know: Just because you have normal skin doesn't mean you don't need to maintain it - quite the opposite. Rely on our 3 essential steps to keep your skin in tip-top shape!

Combination skin

Appearance: Moderately smooth skin, complexion can be uneven, T-zone shiny in the morning or if you don't wash your face in the morning. Cheeks dry, dehydrated and pores a little more visible in the T-zone. Imperfections possible.

Feel : More or less smooth, sticky in the T-zone.

Sensation : Sensation of tightness and discomfort in the cheeks. Comfortable T-zone.

*Good to know: Combination skin is undoubtedly THE most common skin type. Above all, don't treat it like oily skin because of the T-zone, at the risk of over-sensitizing and dehydrating it.

Oily skin

Appearance Shine on the T-zone and more or less all over the face. Dilated pores, blackheads and even inflamed imperfections.

Touch Thick, irregular skin, oily to the touch.

Sensation Sensation of "heavy" skin and make-up that doesn't "hold".

*Good to know: Oily skin tends to mark itself less quickly... and therefore age less quickly than dry skin, for example! This is due to the sebum it produces in excess, which protects it better from daily aggressions.

Dry skin

Appearance Lack of luminosity, rough appearance. Very tight or even invisible pores, marked expression lines and possibly flaking.

Feel A little rough when the skin is not properly treated.

Feeling Tightness, constant discomfort or rapidly after application of a cream. Itching.

*Good to know: Dry skin tends to avoid exfoliation. However, exfoliation is absolutely essential, as dry skin has difficulty evacuating dead surface cells. By exfoliating at least once a week, moisturizing products will penetrate the skin much better, leaving you with a luminous complexion.

Can I have 2 skin types?

It's completely possible, yes! It's common, for example, to have normal to combination or normal to dry skin.

Concerns

Unlike our skin type, which is a permanent, unchangeable state, our concerns are ephemeral and can therefore be treated. Dehydration, sensitivities, imperfections, signs of aging or pigmentation spots, are all concerns that can be managed. Of course, you can have just one, or several (for example imperfections and sensitivities at the same timeThere are no rules.

Dehydration

Appearance: Areas prone to fine lines, flaking, dull complexion and skin that feels "glossy" but not oily.

Feel No greasy finish, rough, wrinkled skin.

Feel : Tugging.

* Good to know: Dryness and dehydration are two different concerns. Dehydration means thirsty skin, because it lacks water. Conversely, dryness means skin lacking sebum, i.e. oil. To be sure of your needs, read our article " Dry or dehydrated skin? We tell you everything! "

The drought

Appearance: Cardboard-like skin, dull complexion and localized dry patches (scabs), excess dead skin.

Touch : Prough water.

Feel : Permanent discomfort, tightness.

*Good to know: Nothing beats a treatment oil to alleviate discomfort and create a shield on the skin's surface, limiting water loss. Opt for skin care products containing rich plant oils: borage, evening primrose, avocado...

Blemishes and blackheads

Appearance: raised, inflamed pimples or subcutaneous imperfections (microksytes)

Touch : Irregular skin texture.

Feel : Pain, heat, sensation of bump.

*Good to know: If you wear makeup, banish foundations and blushes packed with the wrong silicones or mineral oils. Highly comedogenic, they can accentuate the appearance of pimples (or even cause them in the first place).

Shine and dilated pores

Appearance : Localized shiny areas, visible pores, possibly blackheads.

Touch : Bold.

Touch Irregularities in marked areas, thinner skin to the touch.

Loss of firmness

Appearance: Looser facial oval, dilated pores.

Touch Finer, less dense skin.

Feel : Nothing in particular.
